US patent granted

In 2020, ALTA was granted a patent (US11053210B2) for our innovations with regards to manufacturing cyclic carbonates in a continuous process. Today, patent attorney Michiel Cramwinckel handed our CEO Frank Vergunst the certified copy of our patent. This strengthens ALTA’s IP position and marks the exclusivity of our current propylene carbonate project. With our novel process, we provide a green cyclic carbonate for the battery market.

Project proposal FutureCarbonNL

Last Thursday, February 2nd, our CEO Frank Vergunst and business developer Vivian Vergunst attended the celebratory meeting of FutureCarbonNL in Utrecht for handing in a project proposal at the Nationaal Groeifonds. FutureCarbonNL’s aim is to build a global leading carbontech-sector in the Netherlands. To support this, this project proposal valued at more than 1.4 billion euros was submitted. FutureCarbonNL is a partnership between universities, institutions, startups, SMEs, the industry, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management.

As ALTA, we are a core member of FutureCarbonNL. They emphasise the importance of Carbon Capture and Utilisation, which is also the key to our project. If the proposal is accepted, the feasibility of our project would improve greatly. We are very pleased to see this progression and are proud of everyone that has contributed.

Financial report Claassen, Moolenbeek & Partners

Since 1983, Claassen, Moolenbeek & Partners issues financial reports to independently advise businesses on financial subjects. Recently, they made a financial report for our pilot plant project. The conclusion of the report stated that Claassen, Moolenbeek & Partners gives a positive advise for the request of financing by ALTA. This is an important step in the realisation of our green cyclic carbonate project. With this project, we will produce a High Purity green cyclic carbonate that can be used, among others, in the fast growing European battery industry.

The production process uses CO2 as feedstock and is sustainable along the way. This enables us to reduce our own carbon footprint and help other businesses do the same through Carbon Capture and Utilisaton (CCU), all while producing high quality products.

Year event ‘Groene Chemie, Nieuwe Economie’ in Woerden, the Netherlands

Today, our CEO Frank Vergunst and our Business Development manager Jaap Hoogcarspel attended the year event of GCNE, which stands for ‘Green Chemistry, New Economy’. The platform GCNE uses chain-forming, financing and policy in order to give innovative technologies and business models a fair chance. Together with the Royal Association for the Dutch Chemical Industry (VNCI), Frank presented for FutureCarbonNL during one of the break-out sessions. FutureCarbonNL is a proposal for a possible use of the Dutch national growth fund. In this presentation, Frank presented our ACT I project as a typical example of a CCU project.

Grant awarded by Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate

With pride and joy we can finally announce that the Netherlands Enterprise Agency has awarded us a grant to partly finance our Carbon Capture Utilisation (CCU) project. With this grant we will be able to contribute to the reduction of CO2 emissions. The first next step is to test our innovative catalyst in a pilot plant. We eventually wish to use our High Purity grade product, among other purposes, as an electrolyte in the rapidly growing battery market. We appreciate the pleasant cooperation with all parties involved. Special thanks to the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate for the trust and support in our green project.

Kickstart by Zeeuws Participatiefonds

We are happy and proud to announce that the Zeeuws Participatiefonds agreed to kickstart our project. This support in the shape of commitment and financing is essential for the development of our company. We look forward to a fruitful and pleasant cooperation. This is especially an important step in the realisation of our green cyclic carbonate project. With this project, we will produce a High Purity green cyclic carbonate that can be used in the fast growing European battery industry, among others. The production process uses CO2 as feedstock and is sustainable along the way. This allows us to reduce our own carbon footprint and help other businesses do the same through Carbon Capture and Utilisation (CCU), all while maintaining high quality.
