On August 21, 2025, Green Energy Origin Germany GmbH (GEO) Germany and Alta Carbon Technologies B.V. (The Netherlands) officially signed a Letter of Understanding (LOI), marking an important step forward in their collaboration within the lithium battery materials sector.

This partnership combines GEO’s advanced production know-how and scalable electrolyte manufacturing capabilities with ALTA Carbon’s innovative CCU-based solvent technology, developed and manufactured in the Netherlands. These solvents form green building blocks for lithium battery materials, enabling cleaner and more resource-efficient production.
By rooting this innovation in the Netherlands, the collaboration underlines how European-made technologies can directly support the strategic autonomy of domestic battery manufacturing sector. It highlights the importance of building local, sustainable supply chains for electric mobility and energy storage.
“This partnership represents an important milestone for both companies,” said Martin Saewe. “By combining our complementary expertise, we can accelerate the development of sustainable battery materials, establish a local supply chain and contribute to Europe’s long-term energy transition.”
“Processing captured carbon into critical materials, thus creating value from waste is at the heart of ALTA GROUP Engineering competence,” says Frank Vergunst. “Supporting the European Battery Materials Value Chain with CO2 negative feedstock is a strategic advantage for the resilience and sustainability of our supply chains, while supporting effective collaboration across the continent with potent partners such as GEO.”
While both companies are agile innovators, this collaboration demonstrates how focused partnerships can play a meaningful role in advancing Europe’s energy transition — creating solutions that are not only competitive but also environmentally responsible.
